My sister was my role model
she raised me most of my life
Still gave me love and guidance
after becoming a mother and a wife

She helped my father raise me
after my mother went away
And every night I thank the Lord
for this angel when I pray

From the age of seven on
like a mother she was to me
She sacrificed to make sure my life
was full of love and security

I would not be the woman I am today
able to show love and kindness for all
If it had not been for my special angel
who taught me when I was small

Vicki taught us all the love we hold
in our hearts will always stay
And she can be seen in the wonders of God
each and every day

Vicki was taken from us much too soon
that October day in Ninety Seven
The day should have held fond memories
but it was the day she went to heaven

She was struck down, while crossing the road
the driver hit her and he ran
What makes it so hard, he was driving drunk
and this we just don't understand

Why do people have so little respect for life
to put themselves and others at risk
What if it was their sister, their mother or wife
someone they loved and would miss

Vicki's husband Jim lost a wife that day
and I lost my sister and best friend
This ache I feel in my heart and soul
is an emptiness that will never end

Her children and her grandkids
feel this ache also deep inside
As her family, we are hurting
and our sadness we cannot hide

Vicki now lives in heaven
her baby daughter by her side
Lori met her at the pearly gates
with loving arms opened wide

I know she is very happy
as she missed her baby so
And one day we will meet again
when it's time for me to go

I send all my love to you Vicki
my special angel and best friend
Rest peacefully in heaven
until we're together again

My Special Angel
Vicki Anderson

Feb 6, 1942 - Oct. 9, 1997

Where do I begin...I have written this page as a tribute to an angel. A very fine and loving lady who took her 7 year old sister Susan  and helped to raise her and mold her into a kind and loving person. Vicki Anderson was only 5 years older then her little sister but took on the role and responsibility of a mother at a young age to show the little sister whom she loved with her whole hear and soul how much she cared and wanted her to be the best person she could be,

Even after Vicki married and started a family of her own she still continued to love, nurture and be the kind and loving role model of a mother to Susan. After the tragic crib death of her infant daughter Lori, she still was there for her sister. Vicki was there throughout every milestone in Susan's life.. Her wedding day, the birth of her children, and the death of their beloved father. Vicki was there holding her hand. comforting her and making sure she was alright even before her own needs.

Vicki's family was always first in her life. If she knew they were safe and happy then she was happy. She lost a baby daughter to Sids and always held a spot in her heart that could never be filled. There is great comfort in knowing that Vicki is holding her baby daughter Lori in heaven today.

Vicki had taken in her ill mother and cared for her with love and kindness. She also at the same time was caring for her husband Jim who was ill. So when an opportunity for her to have a mini vacation to Las Vegas to see one of her childhood heart throbs, Paul Anka, she was encouraged to take a few days to herself and go. It was while in Las Vegas with a friend and on their way to see the Paul Anka show while crossing the street she was struck down by a drunk driver. This man never stopped to see if Vicki was hurt, dead, or alive. He proceeded to another casino and started gambling like nothing ever happened. Upon hearing of this tragic event, Mr Paul Anka called the family back in Michigan to tell them how sorry he was and also sent a beautiful wreath to Vicki's funeral. The man who struck and killed Vicki received only three years jail time. We all pray to God that this man realizes the pain and heartache he has bestowed on Vicki's family and never drives while under the influence of alcohol or any other drug again.

If you would like to read the statement Susan gave to the court of how this man took away her sister and best friend please click HERE...This very sad and moving speech will tear at your heart strings and open your eyes to the dangers and tragic consequences to drinking and driving while drunk.

Vicki loved her family with her whole heart and soul and one of the most beautiful lessons she instilled into everyone of them was that we are all a part of God and He can be found in every miracle He has created. She once told her granddaughter Danelle that if she ever had to leave her family then just look around and she will be there with them always. She would be in their hearts and in the sky and the birds and in the green grass that grows. She will always be wherever they are and no one could ever take that away from them.

I am sorry I never had the opportunity of meeting this fine and elegant lady. I am so very thankful to have met the fine and wonderful lady in her sister Susan whom she raised with love and pride. Thank you Susan for letting us be a part of your sister Vicki and permitting us to make this memorial and tribute to her. With love and friendship Island Princess and IceDream

For my dear friend Susan with love, Cat
