Night Reflections

Watching you from across the room
as I lay upon the bed
I reflect these moments shared with you
as my prayers are said

I thank the Good Lord nightly
as I am truly blessed
An angel He has sent to me
and I think He sent the best

As I watch you sitting there
in the flickering fire light
Shadows dance around the room
reflecting my hero and my knight

The day you walked into my life
little did I know
That you would mean the world to me
and I could never let you go

We seemed to fit together
like a hand inside a glove
All the things you shared with me
were all the things I loved

Simple pleasures make us happy
like sharing quiet times
You reading the evening paper
while I sit writing rhymes

The weekends are very special
we may stay in bed till noon
Or steal away to a quiet spot
and watch the rising moon

Yes, the Lord has blessed me
with the most perfect man I know
So strong, yet such a gentle soul
oh how I love you so

And when the day is over
and I lay upon the bed
I thank the Good Lord nightly
