Roses from my garden
I send to you today
With all my love and wishes,
the best for you I pray

May the Good Lord keep and guide you
may you never come to harm
Until you return my darling
and are back here in my arms

The days and nights so lonely
and no one knows my fears
The weeks go by so slowly
and seem more to me like years

I know you had to go away
you had a duty and a call
But this doesn't help my lonely heart
or fill my arms, when out I call

I put my passions and my energy
into these roses I now grow
