The Masquerade
She had been hurt so many times
she just gave up on life
See started living in a fantasy
to forget all her pain and strife
Her life is now a masquerade
away from the truth she runs
But no matter how hard she tries
the memories, hurt and pain, they come
She keeps thinking if she lives a lie
then no one can touch her again
A heart that has been badly broken
sometimes it can never mend
She loved him with a love so true
a love that would never die
Still this wasn't enough for him
he cheated and he lied
She lives life in the darkness
trying to hide her shame
She will never let the sunlight in
or ever love again
He broke her heart a million times
each time she took him back
She loved him more then she loved herself
of this it was a fact
And so now he's gone again
and this time it will be the last
She needs to forget him if she can
and put him in the past
A new life she has taken over
even if it is a lie
For if she had kept her other self
she surely would have died
Yes she lives in a masquerade
pretending to be someone else
Cold and hard and very strong
no trace of her other self
