A Golden Thread

Hello Son, I hope you can see
just how painful without you can be
We love and miss you, still, even now
and hope you are watching above in the clouds

The Eagles soon will come back to the place
where you always watched them with a smile on your face
I watch them now, while thinking of you
my spirit soars with them and my faith renewed

I know you're in Heaven at the right hand of God
And where you now walk Richard, only Angles there trod
Today is your birthday and I wish to say
that I love and miss you more with each day

Many things have happened, the children have grown
You now have a granddaughter of your very own
Heather and Jodi, they both graduated last year
And Tiffany got married, your absence was felt with a tear

Robin, your soul mate she has done a great job
raising your children with the help from Dear God
Chelsea, Kate and Jason, you would be proud of them too
they remind me so much of you by the things that they do

Your sister is doing much better, time heals her pain
your brothers Gary, Chris and Mark often mention your name
Your brother Greg, he is off on another far shore
in Iraq healing the sick and the wounded, the casualties of war

Yes my son Richard, many things they have changed
but our love and our missing you, that will always remain
Son you were more then just a member, you were one of a kind
the beautiful golden thread that helps this family to bind.

You taught us many lessons and you taught them with Grace
always looked for the good things with a smile on your face
We take the lessons that you have taught us, apply them each day
and thank the Lord for you Richard each night when we pray

And I, your mother Richard, can still see your smile
your beautiful face stays in my heart all this while
And the times when I go to where the Eagles soar high
they remind me of you Richard, and sometimes I cry
