Gentle Rain

As I sat and watched the rain today
It almost made me cry
Not from saddness or a broken heart
but God's cleansing from the sky

He sent the rain to cleanse my heart
and wipe out all the sin
To make way for His Heavenly Son
to live His life within

I had asked God to forgive me
and help me live my life
Without all of my stored up sins
my turmoile or my strife

His eyes they filled with teardrops
and a smile came across His face
To think after all my sinfull ways
I had asked Him for His Grace

His tears they poured down from the sky
each droplet found it's place
For God so loves His children
no matter what creed or race

God wants this from all of us
to repent and turn from sin
So He may send His beloved Son
to come and live within

Yes I sat and watched the rain
as it cleansed and set me free
Teardrops from the eyes of God
and they gently fell on me
