Missing You

The years go by so quickly
and yet it seems as though
You were just here with us
and watching children grow

A father and a soul mate
who loved with all his heart
It seems as only yesterday
from loved ones you did part

But it also seems a lifetime
since in your arms you held
The woman who is missing you
and now in darkness dwells

The garden bench now empty
where you used to sit
Memories of so long ago
we will never quite forget

Nestled under shaded trees
we can almost see you there
Smiling, laughing, enjoying life
sitting in your garden chair

Seven seasons have passed by
sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry
Missing you we will always be
your beautiful face we long to see

But we believe in butterflies
yes, God sends them to us each day
That's how we know you are with us
as you flutter your wings our way

And when the emptiness is deep
out to the garden chair she keeps
Your memory and your spirit shines
amongst the trees and ivy vines
