An Everyday Hero

For all the unsung heroes
for the dads of "everyday"
Who stuck around when times were rough
and was there at night to play

For the common man with a common job
who never knew wealth or fame
Who through it all stood proud and tall
and brought honor to his name

You are the everyday heroes
and many lessons you did teach
You taught your children how to live,
showed them goals were within their reach

You may never get your name in print
or have your 'fifteen minutes' of fame
But the things you did are so much more
and in my eyes a hero became

We love you and will cherish
all the years that we have had
We salute you and are proud of you
our "everyday heroes" our everyday dads
