Daddy's Little Girl

Sometimes I laugh and sometimes I smile
when I remember you
And then I have days like this
when my dark eyes, they are blue

I remember the dances we used to have
when I was just a little girl
You always called me Princess,
I was your island pearl

I remember the first time you scolded me
it nearly broke my heart
Now looking back on that judgment day
you were just giving me a good start

I always tried to do my best
to make you and mommy proud
And I know I had succeeded
you boasted "that's my Princess" so loud

I never saw you take a rest
you always worked so hard
So big and strong, I looked up to you
my hero and my guard

I remember when you got so ill
and became a shell of your former self
Your loving family was there for you
and I pray our touch you felt

Just as everyday of our lives 
we felt your loving heart
And that is why it was so hard
when from us you had to part

I miss you so much daddy
and today is one of those days
When I feel your absence and your smile,
your guidance and loving ways

Today I feel like your little girl
who fell and skinned her knee
I need you to pick me up, kiss the hurt,
and make all my troubles flee

I am hurting deep within my soul
and scared what lies ahead
Please hug me daddy and kiss my brow
then tuck me into bed

Oh I miss you so much daddy
more than words could ever say
Your gentle touch and shining eyes,
I need you so much today
