In the New Years she got packed away
and this angel lost her wings
She laid there feeling naked all winter
and throughout the spring
 
No one seemed to notice her
as they wrapped and packed away
all the Christmas ornaments
and put them up to lay
 
The spring turned into summer
and this little angel cried
No one noticed she lost her wings
as they set her box aside
 
She just knew that when the fall winds blew
someone would come and give her wings
Cause if she was found on Christmas Eve
she would be replaced by other things
 
But no one came and the time was now to
put up the holiday cheer
And the little wingless angel shed
a sad and silent tear
 
She thought that no one could love her
if she had no wings to show
And to top their tree as the crowning light
they would not want her to go
 
So she cried as they gently opened her box
and was ashamed for them to see
Their beautiful angel who had all these years
adorned their Christmas tree
 
Little did she expect the reaction that they had
the shock and disappointment, they were so very sad
She heard the family talking and how they all agreed
this was their Christmas Angel and put her on the tree
 
She smiled a little angel smile
stood tall and glowed with pride
For that night she had learned a lesson
it's not what you see, but what's inside
 
On Christmas as her family gathered round the tree
they opened a special present, it was not for you or me
It was for the little angel so pure and meek and mild
wings of gold and satin, the card read "From The Child"
