My Sweet Lord

As Mary clutched the newborn Babe
tightly to her breast
A host of angels could be heard
proclaiming the Best of the Best

Born within a manger
amongst the humbled beast
Wrapped in love and swaddling clothes
the Savior they did greet

They knew this Babe was special
by God's light which filled their home
And silently they watched Him sleep
as Mary sang her song

The Child, He never whimpered
even though the night was chilled
The love and warmth within His heart,
today is with us still

Together lowly shepherds
and Wise Men were as one
That wondrous night they came together
to kneel before God's Son

They came to praise the Baby,
a bright star led them towards
To give honor and adorn with gifts
the Messiah, My Sweet Lord
