In the autumn of my life
would you agree to be my wife
I have come to know you and
want us again to be wife and man

I have studied and I have seen
that we two make a real good team
We have had our ups and downs
but by my side you were always found

The years have passed but
they have been good
We have stayed together
and done the best we could

Without you I would cease to be
I love you so much can't you see
With all the silver in your hair
you are still my lady fair

You make me feel so young and alive
I know I have won the very best prize
Hand in hand we walked lifes path
Who would have know that this would last

A bride so young a handsome groom
from the first day we were in tune
We sang life's song side by side
sometimes we laughed, sometimes we cried

We have a raised a family
once we were two and then we were three
Then two more little lives came along
the years rushed by and then they were gone

And now this house holds two once more
no more little feet running across the floor
The grandkids come and visit sometimes
I play ball and you sing them rhymes

It seems like only yesterday
these two words I heard you say
"I DO", were the sweetest words to hear
and still today they bring a tear

And so my lady, fair of grace
I ask these words with a smile on my face
Would you kindly be my wife
till death do us part for the rest of your life
